Regional guides
Compare the Serengeti, Maasai Mara, Okavango Delta, and Kruger region, with seasonal timing and conservancy context to help you choose the right landscape.
Key ecosystems
Each landscape offers its own pace, wildlife, and seasonal character. Start with the region that matches the wildlife you hope to see.
Tanzania
Vast open plains and the great annual migration, best followed from late December through July as herds move through the grasslands.
Kenya
Rolling grassland and river crossings, with strong predator sightings and the Mara migration peaking in the dry season from July to October.
Botswana
A seasonal inland delta of channels and islands, most rewarding from June to October when water levels draw wildlife to the lagoons.
Travel timing
Wildlife movement follows rainfall and water. The dry season, roughly June through October in East and Southern Africa, concentrates animals around rivers and waterholes, making sightings more predictable. The green season brings lush landscapes, fewer visitors, and calving births, with some roads becoming more difficult to travel.
Park entry rules, permit requirements, and seasonal closures differ by country and conservancy. We confirm the current guidelines for each itinerary before you book, so your plans reflect what is open and how to reach it. Private conservancies often offer more flexible game drive times than national parks.
